I'm finally getting on top of our mite/lice infestation and last night, hubby and I dusted every chicken with Permethrin dust which did the trick on the birds.....haven't seen one mite on my arms this morning after handling a hen. Today, I'm removing all bedding AGAIN (8 inches of pine shavings) and spraying the coop from top to bottom with Permethrin Spray. My question is.......what do I do with all the infested bedding? I usually dump all my chicken poop etc on the compost, however, my chickens free range and love to turn the compost over. If I put the old bedding on the compost, surely they'll re-infest themselves? Right? Any suggestions ideas would be greatly appreciated
