How do broody poops work?

I was always under the impression that chickens can't "hold it" with their bowels because of how their digestive systems work, but obviously they can, because broodies only poop once a day. So does anybody understand biologically how they are unable to hold their feces most of the time, but can hold them while broody? I'm just curious how that works. Obviously they have SOME ability to control their bowels or they'd poop the nest.

Chickens can hold it nothing mysterious, they have butt brakes that work as well as anything else's.
Broody poop is just a loooong time pumping the brakes.

I had a broody hen lay a giant broody poop in a dog taxi I was holding her and her sisters in when getting ready to sell them the other night, it was so bad it almost drove me out of the driveway. Kind of embarrassing that she did that right in front of the buyer but he was looking for brood mothers specifically so I guess he got what he came for, lol.

I just got pooped on the other day by my Broody checking to see what was happening to one last egg..
I seriously puked and had to undress outside because of that stink. They can definitely hold it a few days because hormones change..

I used to have a muscovy hen and when you tried to grab her eggs when she went Broody she would attack you. She started this thing where she would grab onto your pant leg and then pull her self up and Crap all over your feet. It was disgusting

Ugh I’m so happy I found this...my pet chicken went broody and pooped only once a day,
As she never ate or came out,
So I broke her brood!
