I use esnipe for my ebay auction bidding. It lets me place my maximum bid 6 seconds before auction close, which prevents anyone from manually raising the bid.

I can be outbid by anyone else with a higher mamimum bid including another sniper.

It's no guarantee of a win, if someone has a higher bid previously placed, you will lose. But it does prevent last minute upbidding on your price.

After losing a few auctions and feeling the frustration, I now only use esnipe to place my bids.

I couldn't beat them, so I joined them.
