i have a rooster and 9 hens and im going to be getting a incubator and would like to breed sell chicks but my rooster is another breed then my hens is this ok

I recently purchased chicks from a "city person" who moved to the country and fell in love with her chickens. She has pens everywhere and such nice chicks. Expansion happens, even when you start small. As a business plan writer for small businesses in a former life, there are always many surprises! In addition to making yourself known to potential buyers, when you raise animals I would think there are a several keys to success. First, suggest starting with the best/most beautiful stock you can afford and provide safe, clean housing that will impress your customers. Then, plan ahead to overcome obstacles like having many, many roosters that your typical customer does not want. As with any business, your shelf life is short. Carefully plan your hatching to coincide with the season. What do you do with unsold chicks...are you going to ship? And, perhaps even more important...be prepared for LOTS of work. Daily tasks are repetitive and never ending. Just a few thoughts. Now I have got to go play with my new chickies.

Why not acquire a matching rooster for the hens. I think there are enough barnyard mutts available from unintended matings with roosters that manage to visit other runs that they shouldn't be created intentionally.

Outside of my personal opinion why would an individual want to purchase your chicks versus chicks from a hatchery that meets NPIP standards.
