How Do I Bold My Topic And Get A Little Chick On Left?

When I look at my new post on the list, it doesn't stand out like the others.

I see most of the new posts have the topic bold lettered and they have a little chick at the beginning.
I cannot get my topic to bold when I use the bold icon... it works when I use it in the body of my post.

Maybe that is the reason that I have been getting very few replies???? I have been disappointed on the number of responses to my questions. I am such a "new egg"... that I really am "in need of advice" when I have the courage to post anything.

Would someone please help me? I would really appreciate it if you could give me step by step instructions. I really need my posts to be read and need HELP!

If its not bold, and there is no Chickie on it, it means that it has been read by you, if its bold and the Chickie is there, it means that there is a reply to your post

Yep. That is merely a tool for you too see which topics you have read. You'll find that if you click the thing on the upper right of each section, or even the main index, that says "mark all topics as read", all the bold headlines and chicks will disappear until someone posts something new.
