My girls have been in the coop for about a week now. I hear I should close down the nest boxes so they dont sleep in there. How would I close these down?
I have to many (4 nest for 6 chickens) so I have used one to keep a gallon waterer in, this blocks it and they cant get in, just drink out of.

I dont have very many pics of them but here is one from when we were still building

See them through the pop door.

Need advice!

Depends on how fancy or pretty you want to make it. I'm not criticizing, just saying we all have different goals and standards.

Take a piece of plywood, hardware cloth, whatever, and screw it to the front.

Make a sliding door. Create a groove on both sides of the opening, put a stop on the bottom, and slide a piece of plywood in that. Or put the grooves top and bottom and slide the plywood in sideways. The vertical sliding door is how I did mine.

You could probably get fancy with hinges and hasps, but that sounds too complicated.

I'm braindead this morning. That's all I can think of. I'll be surprised if others don't come up with other better ideas.

I stapled cardboard across the openings working through the lifted lid. It was sturdy enough to keep the pullets out until I saw a lot of red combs, and once I opened them up I placed ceramic eggs in each box (from Premier1). I also use a nest box liner, it shakes clean most of the time, no scraping the crud of the bottoms.

I had to break my pullets from sleeping in there, so I just stuck a cardboard mailing box in it and blocked it off.
