How do I disinfect a dog crate that I used as isolation for a sick hen?

Sadly, I had to cull her. I am almost certain that she did not have an infectious disease, but not 100%. I have another who has crop issues (we are on a roll around here). I would like to isolate her tomorrow, but want to be certain she is not exposed if there was an infectious disease. It is one of those cheap wire dog crates. I cleaned the plastic tray bottom with soap and then rinsed it off with ammonia and then water. I took the wire part outside and rinsed it as well. Will the sun and fresh air take care of anything else nasty that might be lingering?

Then where should I put the crate? It was in the garage. I vacuumed up the shavings that spilled out. It was on indoor/outdoor carpeting. Can I simply put the crate in another part of the garage, or would it be ok in the old spot? Thanks!

Ammonia is what I would use to clean anything for chickens. It is supposed to be better than bleach. Do you really need to isolate her in the same spot? How about putting her in the ammonia-cleaned and dried crate in the coop or run? That way she is still out with her buddies.

Good idea. She will have to be in the big coop with the large fowl (she is a bantam RIR) instead of the tractor with the little girls, but she will like that better than being in the garage all by her lonesome.
