I am thinking ahead to when I have chickens to butcher, and I was wondering how to find a local place to process them? I know I won't be able to do it myself. After they are dead, I think I could do the rest, but I know that I wouldn't be able to actually chop off the heads.

I am in NE Indiana.

Also, what's a fair price to pay?

Doing the "deed" is not as bad as you think, especially if you think you
can process them with no problem.

If you just decide you can't do it, and that is ok, you may want to ask a
friend who hunts. Most hunters could handle it. Pay him or her with a
few fresh birds.

Would think anyone who can kill a deer could kill a chicken. I have my deer process also, just faster.
Can kill my chicken also, but I take them all to be process, 50 chicken in less than 30 min.

I live in SW Michigan. It's about a 2 hour drive from my house to Fort Wayne, one way.

I'm a hunter, my wife(also a hunter) and I process our own everything. My dad is a retired butcher, he taught us how and gave me tools for the job.

We could probably work something out. PM me if you like.

Greyfields referred me to our county extension office when I was curious about where to have our own chickens processed. You can call them, look up "butcher" on the local phone book, or try the local grange. Someone will know where to send you!
