I just did and I am NOT very happy. I need to find on here what you can do to get an amendment to this law. Have you had any experience here in Cali.? I know it varies city by city.

If I read it correctly, it sounds like you can keep chickens, they just have to be 35 feet from you neighbors' houses.

SEC. 10-203. ANIMAL ENCLOSURES.
All enclosures or premises wherein any animals or fowl are kept shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, free from obnoxious smells and substances. No person shall maintain any enclosure or other place for the housing or keeping of fowl or animals (except dogs) within thirty-five feet of any building used for human habitation, unless such building is occupied by the owner or keeper of the fowl or animals. (Orig. Ord. 2898; Am. Ord. 6769, 1966).

SEC. 10-205. FEEDING AND ENCLOSURES; REQUIREMENTS.
All animals and fowl described in Section 10-201 of this article shall be kept and fed in enclosures complying with the following requirements:
(1) The said enclosure shall be entirely surrounded by a fence or wall sufficient to confine such animals or fowl within such enclosure.
(2) The said fowl and animals shall be confined to said enclosures at all times, excepting that homing pigeons banded by the American Racing Pigeon Union official band may be liberated for exercise and official races sanctioned by the American Racing Pigeon Union. (Orig. Ord. 2898; Am. Ord. 5426, 1958; Am. Ord. 6769, 1966).​

12. HOUSEHOLD PETS shall mean animals, birds, or fowl ordinarily permitted in a dwelling and kept only for the company or pleasure provided to the occupants, not being kept or raised for meat, eggs, milk, hides, fur, fiber, or feathers. Household pets shall not include horses, cows, goats, sheep, nor other equine, bovine, ovine, or ruminant animals; predatory wild animals; chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, game birds and fowl which normally constitute an agricultural use (except that pigeons, and Muscovy ducks or other muted ducks, shall be deemed household pets); nor, pigs, except for potbellied pigs which shall be deemed household pets subject to compliance with subsection 12-306-N-52. The keeping of household pets or other animals is lawful only in those districts where the use is listed as a permitted use or when any household pets are kept as an accessory use to lawfully maintained residences in other districts. The keeping of any animal not herein described as a household pet shall not be deemed an accessory residential use.

But doesn't household mean indoors? I believe that means you can't have them inside your house, but you can have them outside.
