And a body of water....there always seems to be regs regarding how close a coop/run can be to a body of water. 100-150 feet is the norm around here as minimum distance. Located uphill from the water is forbidden. Yep, check it all out.

If you are on a well for your drinking water there are also exclusion zones for things like compost and manure piles.

Just be certain to nail down all of the requirements so you can enjoy the chickens instead of fighting off various legal issues.
