How do I get a chick next to my post?

You can tell that I'm new to this, but I have added a few posts and noticed that they don't have a picture of a chick next to it. How do you do it?

And if anyone knows how to get some gold laced polish let me know

I think that the chick next to the post means that you haven't read that post yet. So you won't see it next to a post that you made.

errr, next to which post? If you mean next to the list if you select 'show recent posts', it is there when there's -new- answers, which means after I post this you should have one showing. Then it will dissappear after you view it.
