That phony email is almost laughable. It would have cost American Airlines more than $500 to do all that research for information and have it composed, typed, and sent.
I think I would have to waste their time... I would tell them where I was going to wire money and make them travel to pick it up... several times... really... I will send it only Western Union to a location and send them on a wild goose chase.. Yep that is what I have done before... Idiots...It is a lot of fun and a way to "stick it to the man" ... ha ha ha. Your not a sitting duck... don't mess with chicken ppl.
Hubby had to deal with that last year and he blew them off once we found out with the help of our bank, it was not legit. So no motorcycle for them LOLOLOL!
Call American Airlines and tell them you suspect that someone is using their company name in a money scam... then forward the e-mail to them...Call your local airport and get American Airlines Phone number....
They'll be able to tell you if its legit or not.
I had a scam e-mail a while ago... the RCMP was VERY interested in it and took a report and wanted me to forward on all the emails i received from this person... you may want to look into reporting it to the authorities
the PO will deliver birds other than poultry to your door or their office! look it up online through them too!
but yes, that is known as the Cameroon Scam. similar to the Nigerian Scam (same area of origin but slightly different way to separate you from you $$). in the Cameroon scam they will try to sell you an exotic/endangered bird breed for a really cheap price, or even try to sell you the eggs and include an incubator in that price, which wouldn't happen since the incubator is quite expensive to send along with those types of fragile eggs! and then they never send you anything. in the Nigerian Scam someone will try to buy an item from you, send a check with almost twice the amount the item was purchased for and then tell you to send the difference back to a US address that is working with/for them that will send the $$ over to another person in Nigeria or another country. i worked in a bank for a few years and had this happen to a customer who mentioned how he was excited but confused why someone would do that. sounded suspicious and i had no clue about that type of scam at the time, but he sat down with a customer service person and they called it in as a precaution to find out it was fake!
there is a listing i found last year for exotic bird breeders in CA when i was researching some breeds but i didn't bookmark the website. i'm sure you could find a local breeder with the birds you are looking for!
i did find someone the also breeds lots of different breeds out of GA. so i know there are lots of breeder lists just like chicken enthusiasts!
