How do I get my chickens to lay in their boxes

About 3 of my hens have started laying out of the boxes. Some lay on the floor in the bedding and the other lays in my compost bin. How can I get them to lay in the boxes again. They just recently started doing this.

I usually like to keep ceramic eggs in the nesting boxes. If these are young hens it will just take some time. Dark quiet places are preferable. If these are existing hens that once were laying hens in your boxes and now stopped you’ll need to figure out why. Could be that broody season in now coming into full swing.

How old are they, in weeks or months?
How long have they been laying?
How many birds total do you have?

If the boxes are higher than the roost chickens will roost in them and won't lay in them.If you'll post a photo we can maybe help.

I put a fake egg or 2 in the nest where I want my girls to lay. They eventually get the idea that that's the good safe place to lay.. had to do this when I changed the coop around and for new layers. My roosters usually show them where is the best place to lay though.
Are your nest boxes easily accessible with clean fresh bedding - you said some lay on the floor bedding so can they get to the nests?
