How do I get my male coturnix quail to stop crowing in the morning!?

Yes, the bachelors spend a lot of time calling for females (especially if they can hear girls) whereas boys with a group of girls are a lot more content and secure. Females will call for their favourite male if they can hear him too and they can be as loud as the boys if they want to be!
Very true. We hatched 32 quail. We had adults in 5:1 pens, and these adults were pretty quiet-only occasional crowing. When the babies reached about 4-5 weeks old the crowing ramped up. It was a very noisy few weeks till the males were culled for eating. Now I have 5 cages of 4:1 and 5:1. Cages are open wire mesh inside a garage. Each cage is near to the other cages-all quail can see and hear each other- but cages are separate by 8-12”, so they can’t touch each other. Males basically never crow now, they are happy with their little harems.

a small collar made to fit around a male quails neck, that stops them fully filling their throat with air to expel for their crow. infact after one week even without the collar my males do not crow anymore. The collar is perfectly safe and doesnt stop their everyday life, eating drinking chirping etc. If you would like some let me know.
I know this post is old but I’d love to try a quail collar. I have one male who is very shrill, ear piercingly loud all day and all night... he’s pretty and gentle with my male that everyone else beats on so wanted to breed him but if it doesn’t stop he’s going to freezer camp.

From my very new experience with coturnix quail is that not enough hens create crowing from a rooster looking to have more honeys. The more hens, the busier he is trying to keep them happy and mount them. So try get him outnumbered, and he'll be too busy to think about crowing.
Mine are teens and a small flock, but there's 8 ladies to 1 male right now and he's driving us bonkers
