How do I get rid of a skunk?

Fill in the areas where the skunk is getting into your garden. Go to the dollar store and pick up ammonia and mothballs. Line the outside of the garden fence with the mothballs and soak small rags in ammonia, wring out slightly and also put that around your garden. You can sprinkle cheap cayanne pepper also. If that doesn't work you will have to go a different route. This year times are hard. If I have to choose between canned and frozen vegetables for the winter from my garden or a skunk the choice is simple.

Most of the time the above method works and doesn't cost a lot.

Run a double hot=wire all along the perimeter of the garden. One that you can easily step over and it would not have to be on during the day. Just put the enegizer on a timer and it will always be on when needed.

I guess I'll try the ammonia and moth balls.

the poison thing is making me crazy... I just don't like it.

I'll have to try this natural remedy first

BTW, I've already filled in all the spots where it could squeeze in.. many times with big rocks... some rocks have been moved, the smaller ones and he got in that way... another time he dug under the fence! UGH!

As is is with any animal, they are just doing what comes naturally, finding food. Skunks, do not spray except as a last resort if threatened. They prefer running rather than spraying. All you have to do is provide them with an easier food source than your plants. They will eat that source rather than digging for grubs. A GREAT source of food for all animals and birds is Peanut pick-outs (peanuts without the shell), they are completely eaten and never a mess, even in the rain. All you have to do is keep moving the feeding area away from your plants and they animals will go to it. It is good food, they eat then leave to their home.
We have an award winning garden and plant area and have absolutely no problems with the many animals that use our back yard. They all live in harmony, as there is no competition for food, plenty for all and they are eating where they do not involve our plants or us.
Killing is NEVER an answer. As Benjamin Franklin said… "Show me a man who raises his fist in anger, and I'll show you a man out of ideas"
Does Killing sound like a good idea? I think not.
This works, does not involve, poisons, guns, etc. It only involves thinking.
