How do I get rid of bugs and clean coop??

Does anyone have suggestions on how to get bugs off of chickens? I THINK they're mites, but am not sure. I'll be checking them later today. The folks at Family Farm and Home suggested diatomaceous earth. I've dusted the chickens and the coop once a week for the past 3 weeks and I noticed last night bugs crawling in the coop. Not sure what to do now! I also need to clean out the coop, but I'm worried about any bugs in the bedding. How should I go about disposing of it? Thanks!

Look in the forum or learning center under diseases and pests. There are articles about mites you will need to treat with poultry dust. Clean the coop and put down poultry dust not only on the chickens (vent area and under wings) but also in the nests and in the new bedding.
