How do I get rid of flies?

Pics
Ok, I have less poop today and less flies. I started the FF feed again 3 days ago.
Well, I soak it over night then fed it.
Then I put in too much water so had to use more feed.
Which lead to just taking 2 spatcula scoops in the AM, and today I did am and pm only because they ate it all up like they were starving. Which is what I want. They were not eating it all before... which brought more flies. {where is the fly Emogji ?}
I am not leaving dry out in the PVC feeder. Not sure who spilled it all over  but it was all over and I had filled it that day ! It should have lasted a few days ! I think the chipmunk got into it. Plus the chickens learned how to get the yogurt cap off . Who knows.

I also re-sprayed the Vanilla Trees every day since Saturday. Who knows  maybe it is working better then I thought. But if a combo of FF and Vanilla Car tres works, so be it !

I'm learning that all these creatures work in harmony. Now, figuring out the beat baseline...well...that's the "one thing". :-/ :)

No, no, no. SO wrong. Oklahoma is like purgatory...California and Massachusetts are hell. :)--HC

I can't speak for Cali, but Mass isn't so bad once you get here and are NOT in the big City LOL OH, and we don't have Tornados. I let TX when one started it's fingers down towards my back yard but ended up hitting about 1 mile down the road.

The Rescue trap is working but slowly, I do have it placed on a cinder block on the ground.
Started to make the Big Jug one . Even got a Cecal poop and put it in then I noticed I had just recycled all the soda bottles. I do that once a month or 2 because it takes that long. We don't drink a lot of soda and no water bottles as it's a huge waste and fills the dump up since not every one recycles.
Now I have a jug with the TOP ON and it will have to wait till this weekend. Better smell nice to the flies by then ;)

Placement is going to be my issue, in sububia and wonder if I can put it at the end of the driveway by the street (muhahahaha) behind some small skinny rouge trees...

Just like lettin' a little "crop dusting gas" go in a small environment like a cube or an airplane or an elevator...look up sharply then start looking around with the evil eye...everyone will assume it's not you. :)

lol

Jar is full of dead flies.
Jug is not. I may not have put enough poop in it.

I still notice flies are not around much when it is rainy.

Does the jug stink to the point of making you nauseous? If not, it's maybe not stinky enough. Those Rescue! fly traps...<gag>...stink. I saw a buzzard approach one once and pass out. But...they work. Sticky strips around the stinky traps help. I should take a picture. I'll try to remember to do so tomorrow.

Just be sure to get yer poop in a group first. :)

Forgive me while I try to load some pics for the first time on this site...

This picture is showing 2 traps, one higher, one lower, in the loafing sheds of one of my barns. Some of my animals congregate here sometimes and led to a large number of flies developing. Notice the two fly strips, one high over but near the lower trap, and one near the higher trap and connected to the string holding the trap. These are not the original strips I put out; the original ones were very heavily covered with flies; these are lightly covered. Both traps have maybe 2 inches of flies floating in them. I refill them with water periodically as the liquid evaporates (it's July in North Central Texas and we're hitting about 100 daily).

This is a close up of the higher trap in the previous image. Notice the fly strip cardboard tube is wedged through the string holding the trap and keeping the sticky strip closer to the trap. I noticed the flies liked to land on the string holding the traps and thought it would help to have the sticky strip closer to the trap. It does help. Again, these are newish strips, put up about a week ago. The traps (and original strips) have done wonders to reduce the number of flies.

This is an image of my setup in the old rabbit barn, now the chicken barn. These sticky strips have not been changed since I first started using traps and strips about 2 months ago. Notice that the fly trap is actually suspended by the sticky strip. This seems to work well because, as I mentioned above, the flies seem to like to land on the cord holding the traps. So, now they land on sticky strip and bye bye fly.

Hope this helps.

OMG, I just had to empty the refillable jar. :sick:sick:sick.
I poured it into a bag and then put that bag into a THICK contractor garbage bag, wrapped twice!!

So glad our trash truck is the automated kind that has the arm and dumps it. Cuz that guy would DIE it he had to empty that by hand :th

I think I will buy the disposable ones from now on !

They do work tho.
