How do I get rid of this smell??

You could bury it a couple of inches down. I see you're in MN, so you might need a backhoe to get through. . .

Put it in round pint containers and sell it to Walmart for catfish bait. (Can also be used under the seat of your daughter's boyfriend's car...she won't want to sit in that vehicle very long!)

Spread it out THINLY -- the big pile is your main mistake.

Then if it still stinks after a few days, work some lime (regular garden lime, NOT quicklime) into it. Cheaper than DE, will do the job as well or better.

Good luck, have fun,

Thanks for all the replies, folks! My first plan of attach will be to spread it out (yuck).

Love the ideas for putting it in the cars of your favorite people. I did that many years back to one of my sister's boyfriends that cheated on her....only I used limberger cheese, and it was 90 degrees outside. I gagged and wretched all the while I was taking it out of the pkg, but it was worth it!

I would just make sure that your DE is food grade. The other stuff contains a lot more crystalline silica and can be harmful to people and pets' lungs. Have never used the garden lime before - I would research whether it would change the ph of your soil if you use it on plants. Might give you a situation of too basic soil for vegees or any acid loving plants. Don't really know, but worth looking into before you use lots of it on compost.
