I built a duck coop down by the pond for the ducks.

I personally think it is a nice little box for them. They have food, water, a large pond with many small fish to eat as well as weeds, grass to graze. Two nights in a row they have walked the whole way up from the pond ( about 200 yards) and ended up back at the door of the chicken coop to be let in.

How do I get them to stay down there? Should I pen them in better?

The chickens keep eating their eggs since they seem to lay them where ever they feel like it and I would like some duck eggs for hatching/ eating..... Suggestion?

I imagine you would have to pen them in for a short time. Ducks are creatures of habit. They know your chicken coop is a safe place, they aren't sure about the new duck one. It definitely is not good for the chickens to be eating their eggs since they will eat their own as well eventually.
