I fill the sink up about 1/4 full, then plop silky in with warm water still running.I then use gentle hand soap or dish soap on chicken.Scrub with hand.Drain water (watch a nasty amount of dirt come OFF chicken), rinse chicken with warm water.Repeat if neccesary.Wrap in hand towel, and dry with hair dryer.Mine don't mind it a bit.The dryer seems to put them to sleep. Some dislike the initial dunk more than others but they all settle down pretty quick with the water being warm.My dd calls it a chicken spa day.
Glycerine soap works best on their fine feathers. My silkie lays there like a rag when blow drying, but I have a friend who has one that it takes 3 people to hold her down.
