Hello, hoping to find advice on how to help my Cochin with her comb. It is very light pink and I believe should be pretty red. Will any help in her diet to make her comb more red? She is almost 4 months old. Here are a few photos I tried taking of her.

Looks more like a silkie with smooth feathers. Comb color has to do with sexual maturity, and reproduction. Combs turn red when birds are in production and fade out when they aren't. When your little pullet gets old enough it should develop a red comb before starting to lay eggs.

Thanks she is still really young and not yet mature. Thank you for explaining!
Combs serve 2 purposes. They are a visual clue to a chickens reproductive status and health. Bright red means fertile and healthy. Pink means out of production or immature. Combs are also for temperature regulation. Big combs lose heat more.

I have a black Cochin and a white Cochin, they're 6 months and 2 weeks and just started laying. Their combs did not turn red until 2 weeks ago, their combs turn red when they're ready to lay. There's no way that you can make it red, they lay when they're ready.

Your Cochin looks very different than mine. Pure Cochins do not have a crest or a black beak.

I am glad you posted this! My pullets are 14 weeks old and still pink.
I am wondering when they change colors? Dominques, Bared Rick, New Hampshires
And how to know if I should put a light on in coop or wait another month.

Did you ever have that one friend who raised chickens and says at 4 months they start laying! What! Already? I got to get hay in the nest boxes!
Nope ! Not laying! No red combs!
No wattles!
And it is winter soon ..... so I suppose it will be April when they lay. FYI I am a newbie so I have no idea when .... just speculation
Good luck!

When pullets are maturing in the late fall generally I add a month or two onto their respected start date. My May chicks will generally be laying by December here. I personally never add extra lights.
