how do I increase humidity

You can start out with a full incubator and set the sponges upright around the walls of the bator and wet them when you turn the eggs (if you don't have a turner)...otherwise, just wet them as needed. It's not going to hurt the eggs in the first 18 days to quickly reach in and take the sponges out to wet them. Usually, after the first or second candling, some eggs will need to be removed and thus make space for the sponges on the floor of the 'bator beneath a vent hole.

absolutely not...don't open the bator the last 3 days. since the humidity needs to be so high the last 3 days, opening the bator during that time will DRASTICALLY AND INSTANTLY drop the humidity and temp. the eggs will lose moisture and the chicks will become "entombed" within the eggs and die before they can hatch.

nice,i'm glad i'm learning all this, since i bought some eggs in an auction here paid pretty goood money, would hate to waste it like that,ok so not all chicks are born on the same day,the ones that are born i leave in there untill they all are born?or can i take them out when they are born?

Leave the hatched chicks in the incubator until all the chicks that have pipped are hatched. During the last 3 days of incubation, a chick will absorb it's yolk sac for nourishment. From this nourishment, the chick can survive for 2 days after hatching, then it begins to weaken and should be given supplemental food and water (if you haven't done so by then).

BYC is a place for learning...it's where a lot of us began. We're always glad to help each other out any way we can.

Everyone has their own opinion about it. I vaccinate my chicks for Marek's when the entire hatch is complete...whether they be 1 day old or 3 days old. Some breeders that I know have very successful breeding programs and vaccinate even older birds. I'll just say this...it's a matter of choice IMO. The vaccine isn't 100% effective anyways.
