How do I keep her in the yard?

Can you use clothes line or some kind of wire and stretch it across the top every 12"from left to right and front to back? I've heard this will keep birds in and hawks or any flying animals out of your yard! I'm planning on doing this in the spring as well as the snow room out my bird netting this winter. Good luck. I too had a hen that would fly th me coup to lay!

We used thin galvanized wire (electric fence type) over our 7' high pens to keep out hawks and owls. We made a grid of it that is 1'x1' over the whole thing. A few of our hens brushed it at first but now don't try to fly that high. We used mason string to make the top grid at first because, we read it holds up well to uv and weather. The mason string was falling apart within a few months and the hens would eat it. We took it all down and put up the wire. I expect the wire will still look good and last for years.
