Our chickens are generally in a run, but every afternoon we let them out in our yard. they absolutely LOVE our garden. they eat the plants! how do we keep them away from the garden? any help is appreciated.

Yeah, they seem to eat anything! We did attempt a fence, but they just jump over it. I think it's about time we clip their wing feathers again. thanks for responding-BYC seems quiet today.

sorry, typo, the run fence is almost 5 feet. it's a 7 foot deer fence, but we double layered the bottom so nothing could chew through it.

4 ft is a piece of cake for chickens, my run is 6 feet and I have only had 1 chicken get out. Though, she got a running start and climbed up the fence! With clipped wings! My chickens fly 4 ft up easy with clipped wings, even the buff Orpingtons!
Wow, I guess I am really lucky then because I grow almost all my own food and I let my chickens out to free range and my wire fences around my veggies are only 3 feet high. I just put metal stakes in the ground and chicken wire around the areas.
