How do I kill it?

well my only issue is that since it was shot at the first time (assuming this IS the same one) I haven't seen in it the day at all. He came through last night at 2:30 AM. I have no issue walking up to it and shooting it. Not at all, its costing me money so I am not going to feel bad about killing him at all. I'm almost positive this thing will not fit in a coon trap. He seems rather large for a fox. I guess I try and get ahold of animal control. Hopefully they will be more help than the DNR.

You could use a #1.75 or #2 coilspring trap. That would take care of the fox, coyotes or racoons. Make sure you stake it good, with a short chain only 8 to 10 inches, if you are going to trap it. Also if you get a rusty or oily trap the fox can smell it. If it is rusty then use wax on it. Then you can dispatch it any way you deem fit. Roger

I would catch and shoot it or sit up a lawn chair and wait for him, if it is a fox he will keep coming back until all of your chcikens are gone, and they kill for fun, and waste so much, sounded like a fox with that playful jump in the field, decide what way that best suits you to put him down.

We have fox and coyote here Fox being the worst. They are almost impossible to trap unless you are experienced at trapping them.Coyote I have heard a little easier.Fox took out MANY of my bird's in daylight. It's a Sportsman game basicly when it come's to fox.Hubby got one at 9 am one morn with a.22 twice and it was so big it didn't even affect it.It had 4 kit's with mama in a den right under our nose on neighbor's property they came right out yipping at 6pm one eve at an old pigpen we have on our side.He had some chicken's and was getting eaten too.It took him a few month's but knowing where the den was a HUGE help they run is all gone. Now We have 2 more across road.I keep gun loaded and got a new crazy dog lol so hopefully no more fox food for them.Good luck if you try the trap route they good for coon's etc.

well I locked everyone up tonight aside from the hens that are sitting. They have been hidden or barracaded in some way. So hopefully they will be ok. I put up the trail cam...I'm going to see if he/she has an established pattern. I am going to try and locate a live trap. Otherwise I guess we go with a leg trap.

trapping and releasing is illegal in most of the country. its also cruel and tough on the wild animal, almost always insuring that the newly released wild animal will struggle to find food in the brand new habitat and thus will harass farms and people looking for an easy meal. releasing an animal will only cause it to be somebody else’s bigger problem.

Dumb question why worry about this one fox when you shoot him there are probably more plus coon and coyote and mink and etc etc etc.... put yourself up a nice electric fence and then you can sleep nicely at night even if its just some step in posts and a 40 dollar fencer around the coop alone... smear some PB or cat food on some tims and hang them from it trust me one lick of that and MR foxy will move on so will the neighbors cats , dog, raccoons and if your lucky that mink too put the wire up 4 inches off the ground add 2 0r 4 more every 6 - 8 inches from there and your done.... You can never kill all the predators and its the one you miss that will get you...

It ain't right to cause this animal to suffer because it's hungry and using its instincts to get food. There must be some way to get rid of it without being cruel and prolonging its death, and drowning an animal is pretty sadistic. Perhaps someone can shoot it for you?
