i have a few young chickens and 2 older hens, last month i had one of my roosters attempting to breed with one of my older hens at a very young age (it is a deleware)! 3 months as an estimate! Since this month one of my other younger roosters tried to attempt at mating with one of my younger hens! And she hasnt laid a single egg yet! She did not let it luckily. So i was wondering, does a rooster become a fully fledged adult if he attempts to mate? Or are my 2 roosters just doing that because of there testosterone?

How old are these birds, in months?

No. They are fully grown between 1-2 years old.

Probably. Cockerels start to try and mate as early as 10-12 weeks old.
Having more then one male can create an environment of competition and they all can be at their worst behaviors.

Breed doesn't really matter....it's all about the individual birds.
