I have 5 hens, about 6 months old. 3 Easter Eggers & 2 Black Australorps. They are free range during the day. Thursday morning one of the lorps was limping slightly on one of her legs. She came to eat and then would limp over to where the other girls were and sit down. She was able to fly into the coop that night. Friday morning, she would kind of hop around, but spent majority of the day sitting down. We picked her up and put her into the coop that night. Saturday and Sunday we had to take her out of the coop and she managed to get to a shady spot and spent both days there. She had access to food and water and would eat some and drink. She does not seem to be in pain, but her leg now just kind of hangs and her toes are curled. First I thought she might have just hurt it. But after looking online and her not getting any better, I'm not sure what is wrong. She does not mind being picked up and carried. I do not see anything wrong with her leg or foot and I do not feel anything abnormal, feels just like the other leg. I am not sure if they were vaccinated for Marek's, I got them from a local farm at about 3 months old. I am relatively new to having chickens. We always had them when I was growing up, but that has been a long time ago. I also worry about her getting egg bound now. Her last egg was Wednesday afternoon. I did notice that it was a much lighter brown than it normally, I'm not sure if that means anything. Any advice would be appreciated. I just got them to have some good fresh eggs, but they have quickly become pets and I hate the thought of losing one of them. Thanks!!!
