I think that would be fine not too much though like a tblsp or 2 or replace with the liquid you put in...so if it calls for 1 and 1/4 cup water then put in 1/4 cup lemon juice and a cup water....thats my thought.

I love jello cake have you tried that before......use lemon cake mix and get a box of jello (lemon).....bake cake and then let cool then poke holes everywhere I like lots and lots of holes in the cake and then mix up jello no ice just warm water to dissolve jello and then some cold water to dilute it a bit....and pour it over the cake it will go in the holes and absorb into the cake do the edges really well to.....we keep in the fridge the jello sets up you can do this with any cake or kind of jello some whip topping or not really cool refreshing dessert in the warm weather.

finely grate some of the peel...just be sure not to get any of the pith (the white...its bitter)
ive tried lemon extract before but it just doesnt cut it like the peel does

We call it "poke cake". I make it a lot during the summer. Our favorite is white cake with strawberry jello.

I think it would be fine to replace some of the water with lemon juice.

Thanks guys!

i am going to try that too. also, you can get lemon extract, that is what i use for homemade cakes.

tellin you the zest is it, you don't need anything else, and it smells heavenly!

I have to agree with the lemon peel - it REALLY adds a good lemon kick without any chemical or food coloring. Enjoy whatever you choose!
