I want to make a columbian Wyandotte by crossing a barred rock & a white Wyandotte (this project will take place next year) what steps must I take to try this?

Columbian wyandottes already exist if that's what you're after. But if you're doing this for fun a barred rock x white wyandotte cross won't get you what you want. You'll have to cross to a bird that has the Columbian gene.

yes I know but I want to start a project for fun.
look here
Columbian Wyandottes were first exhibited at the Columbian Exposition of the 1893 World's Fair held in Chicago. This variety was produced by crossing a White Wyandotte and a Barred Plymouth Rock

History may state that is how they were developed, but I doubt that is fact. Give your project a try and see how it goes. If you really like the Columbian pattern, why not buy a few just for "pretty"? If you try this project, come back and give a report on how it goes.

Punky,

The first White Wyandotte was a sport out of a Silver Laced Wyandotte so I would believe that would play a big affect on the creation of the Columbian Wyandotte.
You could try breeding a White Wyandotte to a Bared Rock but you could come up short with out the Silver Laced genetics behind it.

You may want to PM Henk69 and see what he thinks.
