How do I move my Broody Hen to separate her from the nesting boxes?

Do I need to move my broody hen and eggs at night?

I tried separating her several days into her broodiness, but she wasn't having it. Very distressed banging the cage, wouldn't sit on the eggs. I think she thought I was keeping her from the nesting boxes and eggs even though I put her on the eggs several times.

I gave up and moved her back to the nesting boxes. But the other hens are laying in the same bin and I am finding a broken egg under her every day (non fertilized).

I am going to block off the small cage with towels to make it dark and the other hens can't see her and move at night, will with work?

How long will the eggs last if she won't sit on them for a day?

My response in this thread shows how I move them and it’s been very successful for two of two broodies so far…
Thanks for the information. I have blocked off the small coop I have with cardboard and have a nesting area ready. Will relocate her in the darkness and leave her be. The other hens are picking on her, so she will need to be separated for the last few weeks.
