Our 5-6 month old Silkie cockerel won't stop following me whenever I'm either in the fenced yard or when they're free ranging. Also when I try to give the girls treats from my hand, he will come over and take them. I'm pretty sure this behavior isn't good since he keeps getting in my personal space.

How do I get him to stop?

I've tried stomping near him to scare him away but he doesn't move. He just looks very confused on why I'm doing this.

I had a bantam rooster once who would take the treets from my hand and cluck over a hen and give it to her. Over and over untill the treets were all gone. He never ate one himself.
Why should your rooster not be allowed treets along with your hens?
He can have treats, I was talking about the behavior.

When you do aggressive behavior towards a rooster, he's going to be aggressive back. His sole purpose in life is to protect his hens. He's a chicken just like the rest, he will do what the other chickens do. If the hens follow you, so won't the rooster. If the hens get treats then so doesn't the rooster.

To chickens, you're in their space when you're outside even the unfenced part since you free range. They considered the whole outside theirs because that's the area theyve been allowed to be in.

I don't see his behavior as deserving any type of punishment, he hasn't caused you any harm, he's just being a chicken.

Stomping your feet, and kicking at him?
Is he attacking you?
If he is not attacking you, he is just looking for the goodies you bring. Not all roosters turn out to be buttheads.
Your behavior may bring it out in him tho.
Maybe you are scarred of him, he will eventually pick up on that.
