How do I stop my chickens from flying over the fence?

I want my chicken not to fly because i fear they will get away or fly over to the neighbors lawn....how can i cut the wings so that they cant fly but still can mate. Please help!

Grab them by one wing and spread out the feathers. You want to cut the long wing feathers short. Do this just on one wing, not both. It wont affect mating, but you will need to frequently re-do this. In the long run, I find it easier to put a top on the run.

thank you. yes i am reconsidering it now. might have to put net over it. thanks!

oh and one of my rooster flew up to the tree and this morning no where to be found. do you think it would come back since all of its 'friends' are there?

If something doesn't eat it I imagine it will come back when it gets hungry....
