How do I stop this?

freedom chick

We have a visitor, and this morning he brought his/her buddy. Cute and all but the girls are just starting to lay and I have 5 week old chicks that will be out play-penning in the run soon. The squirrel nest is in the tree inside then pen and the canopy covers our run -which has given great predator control from raptors.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of or discourage them? They eat the feed and they drink out of the waterer. I don’t want the feces in the run and I don’t want one to get brave and challenge my birds or get brave and go in the coop.
Any suggestions and teaching would be appreciated ☺

if you have a mint plant anywhere, preferably peppermint since it's the strongest, sprinkle he leaves around the entrance the squirrels are using. I think most animals dislike that smell.

Oh wow how are they getting into the run? I must say that squirrels are very impressive creatures.
I'm not sure what your saying but if someone wants to keep them out they need to build a covered run and use 1/2 inch hardware cloth over everything.

An air rifle could easily kill a squirrel if shot in the head if you don't like the idea of killing a squirrel they are probably there to stay. They could also be a alarm for predators but do keep an eye out for those chicks.

Squirrel is nesting and nursing babies, it will go for your feed year round now that it knows where it is. And steal eggs, even chicks for protein. If you have all full size birds one of our feeders will stop a single squirrel, usually two. If you have a forest full, good luck with anything. However, I am working on a prototype that would stop a forest full of squirrels but it might be a year before I am selling them.
