We thought it was a cat, because cats have been trying to break in, but they recently killed a full grown black sex link.......... we are reconsidering. Bent wire, hardly touched meat, lots and lots of feathers! Holes too small for dogs.....the predator has also killed 5 others, a B. L. wyadotte, and 4 sex links of different colors. The others have been mature pullets, once killed 3 of them in one go.......what is it, and how do you stop it?

(we live in highland......no coyotes or creatures like that)

Raccoons, weasels, opossums and dogs are the first 4 I would suspect.

Hardware cloth needs to be strongly secured over all openings. Other types of wire (chicken wire and welded wire) probably won't protect your birds.

Last night, raccoons pried a wall board that was securely screwed onto the framing from of one of my coops, killed 7 birds and wounded 2 others.
