i have 10 ex-bats and i have just inroduced a cockerel (breed unknown) and i want to get some chicks later on but untill then and afterwards i need a way to make fertile eggs not hatch ever. i sell some eggs every week and i dont want people cracking half grown chicks into a pan. also i cant remove the cockerel.

You cannot "unfertilize" an egg. You can only make them "non-fertilized" by removing the rooster. Fertilized eggs are not any different then a non-fertilized egg unless you incubate them. You can eat them and they won't taste or look any different.'

The only way you will get a half grown chick in the egg is if you, or a hen sits on the eggs and incubates them.

so if i keep my eggs n the fridge they will be fine. maybe un fretilise was the wrong phrase how about to abort an egg so it cant germinate maybe freeze it?

Make sure that you collect the eggs daily, put them in the fridge, and you are good to go. They do not develop unless the hens sit on them!

So..what if you collect them and do not refrigerate for a day or two? I have 20 hens and 2 roosters. I collect every day and every third day or so I wash & package for sale to friends & relatives. Does not being sat on stop the development, or will they still develop somewhat at room temperature ? I haven't noticed anything by way of development, but it never hurts to ask the people who know.

they should be fine as long as the temp is not more than 25C they wont develp and the viability will drop considerably after 7 days of storage anyway

one other thing i would advise is to tell buyers they are fertile eggs as some people feel odd eating fertile eggs and it would make you liable if they found out afterwards and decided to taek action

All my eggs here are fertile. They sit on the counter until I get enough to fill a carton- in lower production times, they can sit for three or four days before being refrigerated. None develop and would never even start, not unless my house was pretty darn hot.
