When I raised chicks before I used a heat lamp, but my neighbor offered to let me use her comfort chick brooder. When I put a thermometer under it, it seems to run about 90°. Of course the thermometer is on the ground, not near the top, so maybe it is warmer near the top?

So I was worried it wasn’t hot enough, and so in the other side of the chicken corral I turned on the heat lamp. The chicks came out from under the comfort chick brooder and sat under the heat lamp. The thermometer read 100° under there. I wanted to turn it off overnight. Do you think that they will be OK under the comfort chick brooder, newly hatched? anyone have any experience with these types?

Those are nice. 90 is a good temp. You do NOT want it at 100. That's way too hot.
