Hi There!
I am eagerly awaiting a chance to start a new backyard flock of chickens! I am so excited to get some Orpingtons, but am wondering how well they do with smaller breeds, such as Easter Eggers (not Bantam, but regular sized ones). Would a flock of primarily large Orpingtons do well with a smaller breed, or would the smaller breed be picked on? I was thinking of maybe getting 4-5 Orpingtons and a only couple of EE. It seems like people have flocks with both breeds in it, but just looking for some feedback as I'm as new as a neewbie can be!
Thanks so much guys, and I look forward to nerding out about Orps once I get some on here!

A new flock of chickens (especially a first one) is super exciting!! I know you're pumped!!
I'm not an expert by any means, but we have a flock of 18 birds with all different breeds (Brahmas, Orpingtons, Rocks, EEs, Turkens, Polish, etc.). We've only had one instance of bullying. This was with our very docile, laid back polish who was being bullied by a few of the other chickens who were on top of the pecking order. I doubt you'll have trouble with two different breeds, I think the more important factors would be the personalities and ages at play in your flock as well as making sure the birds aren't too crowed, as this could cause fighting/bullying. You can read more about flock dynamics and bullying in the learning center. Its full of great articles and tons of information.
