To all
How do you pick up all those pesky feathers?
I was thinking a shop vac?
To hard chasing them around the run!
So how do the members handle it?
Thanks
Sean

I just leave them and compost them with the bedding when I clean out a coop and run. There will be times of the year that it looks like they had a pillow fight.

Bought a 8 ft. long, untreated, wooden rake handle and slathered it with spar varnish. Attached handle to an old, light wt., 18" wide, plastic rake head (tub caulk into socket of rake head- then anchored head to rake handle with a hose clamp once caulk had set). We rake out all chook/turkey feathers but, more importantly, also all the still husked Hickory nuts from the trees in chook run (have outside/daytime roosts in corners of runs and don't want the turks, in particular, to hop down to a foot/leg injury. Everything that is raked out is composted. Primary flight feathers from chooks/turks can be zip tied to one end of any, handy, supple branch - we use these `feather dusters' to clear corners/ceilings of coop/shed of the never ending immigration of arachnids & their webs.
