I was wondering if my chickens were nice....
i want to show them in 4-h .. so i was hoping they were worth showing.
they are still a lil young...
prolly 2-4 months...

Im not familiar with the other breeds but I really like Twinkie. They are a bit young to tell yet. Make sure that Twinkies undercolor is the same as her top color.

Don't know enough about the other breeds but the barred rock isn't show quality. wrong leg color, bad barring and tail. Probably will make a great layer though.

Madison's right, she's not to the standard for a BR. She looks like a cuckoo maran, not a BR.

they are some real pretty birds for sure worth showing i got a Jersey Giant Cockerel looks just like Achmed .. scary here are some picks of my jg Cockerel and mu jg pullet..

I like te jersey giants a lot and twinkie looks really nice too. I agree that your br might actually be a cuckoo marans

hmm.. thats fine with me... about Bertha maybe being a cuckoo maran...
is there anyway to tell the difference?

Marans will have pink legs and beak, where on a BR it would be yellow. Also, a BR's barring is more distinct, and it's broken and not as distinct on a maran. Plus, the marans will lay a nice dark egg.

If they arent being judged to the APA standard , go ahead a bring them. APA judges can sometimes come across harsh, but they are just trying to maintain the standard.

These birds are more industrial quality than show quality, you asked, I answered.
