How do u candle an egg?

Ok - I still learning so i am seeing all this candling an egg stuff. How do you do that? How old does the egg have to be so you can do it? Any info is helpful and greatly appreciated!!

You candle an egg by basically putting a bright light up to the back side of the egg so you can see through the shell and any shadow from the yolk or the chick.

For beginners and dark shelled eggs, it is best to candle at day 7-10 where you should certainly see a black spot which is the chick. I can candle as early as day 3 and see blood veins... but... I have a crazy candler flashlight .
