How do we get our ladies to use the nesting boxes

Our chickens are 20 weeks old and lwyed their first eggs around 17 weeks currently we only 4 hens actually laying
But how do we get them to use the nesting boxes we were thinking about getting some ladders for them would that help or no

If not,make ground level nesting boxes

You can put fake eggs in the boxes to encourage them to lay there. Worked for mine.

I think your openings are too small. Open them up, put straw in them and some golf balls and I'll bet they'll start laying in them in no time. Leave about a 2" lip so the straw stays in.

If they are wood I would use a jig saw or sabre saw.
