how do y'all pick up quail without them pooping on you

Very good ideas! I am trying cuddling with my tamest quail, and surprisingly enough, she is refraining from pooping on me! I suppose it's cause she's gotten older, haha. When she was younger she wouldn't hesitate...

I guess it is like "wetting the bed" for the youngsters? XD Since both parents are usually involved in egg-sitting, the adults need the good bladder control or they'd soil their own eggs.

They do very large ones when they get off the eggs though!

Huge, smelly and often rather runny ones at that too. XD
Scrappy does them at times after I lose track of time when cuddling him, like literally 5 hours pass of just watching movies with him, and I put him down so he can do his buisness and... STINKBOMB!
