How do you all get such good pictures?

Our RIR pullets and SS straight runs are almost 4 weeks old -- I've been trying to get a good picture of my suspected roos to post on here, and they aren't cooperating. Do I need someone to hold them while I snap the picture? When I try it by myself it looks like I'm abusing them, though of course I'm not

Haha! I have hard times taking pics of mine too. Like when they are in their brooder the red heat lamp makes them look like little red blobs when I snap the picture. The other day it was warm outside so I took all 6 outside. I got some good pics. So, you could try that?

Just turn off the lamp while taking the pics. Just don't forget to plug it back in.

So glad to hear you ask this! I tried to take photos of my 6 week old chicks yesterday and it was almost impossible. Got lots of shots of their backs, blurry shots of them running away, and then one rather scary shot of a chick lunging for the camera....worm's eye view of the beak

Most all of it is LUCK and PATIENCE

Natural light is always the best. If you can, take them outside - or place near a window.

Thanks y'all -- I've done outdoors and lamp off, and have gotten some good group shots (my new FaceBook profile picture .... might as well advertise the obsession ) but I'm having fits getting the two suspected roos to let me show their larger than the others combs and wattles. Of course I've held them so much now trying to get a good shot that they're 2 of my friendliest birds. Naturally, since I agreed to all hens, no roosters.

I don't have any good shots of mine yet either. Two young children make it really hard to do.

Wow Juliette, high tech xD I think I'm just going to do the card board box thing. Or possibly a nice placement in the outside sun, getting them a little sleepy xD
