I think you are dead wrong when you say "too many who are breeders take for granted that their birds will remain the same without trying to keep a good thing going". I think the biggest majority of breeders are continually working to improve their chosen breeds. There's not enough money in this hobby/avocation to let things slide with your breeding programs. I think you are way off base.

You say I am wrong, I must be wrong. You know it all more then me. What do I know. I only owned chickens one year. You have issue with my chickens, and about everything I say. Seems like you have issue with someone who speaks their mind.
I just call it how I see it.
IF Krys in the UK has issue with some of our breeders standards, maybe she is DEAD WRONG. However, some of us, like me, are on her side in this debate. And I agree with her that IF you bred to sell, you should stick to a standard, and if we are, why are the two standards so different?
Does that mean were all dead wrong? Are the Brits DEAD WRONG? Tell us what you think?

20 years of chickening is wonderful.
I am only 19 years behind you. In a thousands years I might catch up

I am well aware of that, thanks. I have been in the chicken world over 20 years. I am not a novice at this game.

I didn't see where anyone was suggesting you were. Some believe the US standard is the only standard that matters, so only breed for the US standard.

I agree with your post about being proud as a breeder. That is what I am stressing, pride in what we do. Isn't that why you folks in the UK don't buy American? You buy English cars, cause your proud?
Well, what is wrong with being proud of what you make, unless what you make is a half rear ended attempt?

I also don't intend to show. I am like a lady I talked to the other nite. Maria has great birds. She too has no intention to show. But, she still has fantastic Jersey Giants, and Newfies too!
Because she cares, it reflects in her birds. And she, I hope we can all agree, is one heck of a breeder.
