Actually Krys lives here in the U.S. now.

I think if you were looking to make connections on this board to get some really nice birds you've gone about it the wrong way.

Never said I know it all. But I have had chickens a heck of lot longer than less than a year tho. Learned a lot the hard way and am still learning.

I hardly have an issue with someone who speaks their mind.....or whether they agree with me or not. I have an issue with how you began this thread and several of your posts which I found to be rather rude to the breeders on this forum and often times were rambling and honestly didn't make a whole lot of sense.

Most of the people who breed for standards are not going to continue bashing the person after the issue has been dropped.

Plus, there are very few serious breeders of Orpingtons on this board, who by the way, have excellent birds. By ticking people off on this board, you have by no means ruined your "credit" with other breeders who do not visit this site. We cannot hear the tone in your words when you speak them, so please forgive when they are taken the wrong way!

Please continue to speak your mind!

*Edit* When I say "serious breeders" I mean breeders who are selecting their birds to the APA or UK Standard of Perfection. Meaning..they have a general goal and purpose for their breeding program.

It is perfectly find to breed and have birds that have no specific program ahead of them. Different birds for different people. We all choose our breeds and breeding programs for different reasons, so please don't attack when I say "serious breeders."

Folks, I find it refreshing to talk about methods to get to the same place. Having nice birds.
My method obviously is not the normal taken route by many members here.
And I love being tutored by such wise authorities on chickendom. And I do like many breeders here. And do not mind what anyone thinks on my lack of ability to comunicate my thoughts clearly, Katy. Obviously, if you see someone who you feel sorry for you don't go out of your way to make his life harder. Unless that is what you like. Some here like to do that. And I am new and am use to being hazed.
But, one thing is for sure, if you don't like it,
I LIKE IT! That means I must be going in the right direction. Or why would you continue to try?

I'd just like to drop in here with a quick reminder of a few of the BYC Rules that keep our community running smoothly:

* Be friendly and courteous to all members at all times.

3. No Flaming (verbally attacking people or groups of people - e.g. a profession, an organization, a company.)
4. No Trolling (posting to provoke others, luring them to flame or rant). Trolling is sometimes done involuntarily, so please be considerate when posting.

7. No Fighting. Taking a personal conflict to the forum is unacceptable. "I'm right, you're wrong" threads and posts will be edited or deleted.

While this discussion is interesting and is obviously close to the heart for many BYCers, it's obvious that it keeps edging closer and closer to breaking some of these rules.

If you wish to continue your participation in this discussion, please be careful to word your posts courteously and refrain from personal attacks or challenges.

If you see something that you feel is in violation of the BYC rules, please utilize the Report button to alert the Staff rather than responding.

Thank you for understanding.

Ok The Chicken Lady I'll try and keep this civil

Ok...I tried and couldn't do it....had to erase everything I wrote. So I guess I'm done with this conversation....for now anyway!

This thread has gotten way off track and way to dramatic. I cant help but picture some of you guys all meeting up and grabbing your best Orp by the legs and dukeing it out in an all out brawl. I honestly dont see how anyone would learn anything about building a great Orp flock from this thread. Thats not to say there is not a few tidbits of good info on here, but who would want to read a book to only learn what could have been summed up in two sentences. I will no longer be visiting this thread as there is 9 pages now that have went nowhere and see no point in continueing it.

Chicken lady
I feel like I got the answer to my initial question. "How people here built up their flocks", whether it be Orps, Brahmas, and any specie or breed. These methods were beneficial to all who read and did not participate.
And I appreciate all who added quality breeders names. And I am new to chickens. My friends are not. But I am, and this is a useful forum to compare ideas.
to all have a great nite
