How do you calibrate a digital thermometer?

You know? The accurite cheapos at walmart, that have no probe? Anybody know?

With no probe would be hard to calibrate.

just ordered the Brinsea Spot Check Digital Incubator Thermometer.

It has an 18 inch cord for the probe.

I wrote down how to calibrate a hygrometer from a thread here on BYC. I haven't tried it yet, but here it is.

1/2 cup salt
1/4 cup water

Mix in a bowl. Put bowl in a ziplock bag with the hygrometer in the bag also. After at least 8 hours, it should read 75 %.

(Make a wet sand mixture of the salt and water. Not too soupy.)

To check thermometer accuracy:

I've heard you can put them in ziploc bags and then imerse them in the ice/water mix. I guess it's up to you on whether or not you trust the bags.
