How do you clean out a raised coop

Thanks everybody for your input. You can stop now. I have the idea, and shared all your thoughts and some of the designs with my husband today. He may still just do it his way, but he is a little better informed. I still am not clear why some of you do what you do...but will not ask more at this point.

If you like even smaller pets than chickens, I have been working most of the afternoon on my new site for our honey. It is kind of overdone, too, as we only have a couple of hives so I really don't have to be that involved. If you are curious about these tiny pets, there is a link to it from my ecovillage site.

21 chickens, thousands of bees, one ball python, a wonderfully supportive husband who is my built in handyman....and many grateful birds and butterflies of which I cannot lay claim....and that is just the animal kingdom

I use a tile trowel to simply scrape out the droppings each morning after the chickens go out to the run. Takes about 30 seconds. I scrape the droppings into an old feed bag sitting at the bottom of the door. Works great for my 5 x 4 foot hen house raised about 2.5 feet off the ground.
