How do you clean your dishwahser???

I've had my dishwasher for just over a year now and never really 'cleaned' it, other than wiping down the door and edges. I see scuz and it's grossing me out.

What are your suggestions for a homemade dishwasher cleaner? I've seen the ads for Finish Dishwasher Cleaner, but I'd rather use something that I might have, like baking soda?!!?

i use half washing soda and half color-safe powdered bleach. cleans the dishes really well and even reduces hard water/rust stains on the actually dishwasher.

it costs WAY less than commercial detergents.

some people use Tang to do a cleaning on the washer. just pour it in the dispenser cup and run it. (without dishes in it, of course.)

Well, not ery natural, but I run an empty load with 1/2 cup of bleach

I buy a bottle of this stuff at the store that you use to clean it. Put it on top and run a full cycle.

For hard water crud, we've had great success with borax. Never really used it in the dishwasher though.

I spray the inside of the empty dishwasher with lime-away (sometimes I spray it heavy) and then run it on pots and Pans cycle empty of course. Cleans up all the minerial deposits , skuz and cunk

. I am happy with the results

i mostly use sponge power myself. in fact, been thinking about getting rid of the dwasher!​
