for your chicks....

Scrambled or hard boiled and chopped up? I have 6 that will go bad tomorrow so I wanted to cook them up for my bigger ladies tomorrow. Do they typically have a preference? LOL Mine have never had eggs

I was just reading a post that said to feed chickens hard boiled eggs. I am going to give mine some tomorrow. Never give them a raw egg as they will eat their eggs after they lay them. And this is a hard habit to break. Rather safe then sorry.

Yes, I know about the raw part.

I was just curious as to whether they seem to prefer them scrambled or just hard boiled.

any time i get too many eggs in the fridge i hard boil them all throw em out to the chickens, im too lazy to chop them up, so i just dump the big pot of eggs and break each one up with my foot... they love them. even raw shells... ive never had a problem with hens eating their own eggs... i imagine that WOULD be tough to break though.

I scramble them, no particular reason, except I'd rather scramble them than hard boil them, no waiting or timing. Some people throw the egg shells in with them. Some people also will feed them a raw egg, say when they find a soft shelled egg in the coop, or a really poopy one, they just throw it on the floor and the chickens attack it. They claim it doesn't make them egg eaters. I doubt the chickens care, as long as they get them.

I'm new to this so forgive my question if it's stupid....
Why feed a chicken and egg? Is there some benefit?
I seriously doubt I will have an over abundance of eggs with only 3 chickens but I'm wondering if there is some reason I should feed them an egg?

That's not a dumb question......calcium and vitamins......and an easy way to recycle eggs if you have too many......I usually only have cracked ones once in a while that I cook up and mix with yougurt and oatmeal and give it to mine as a treat.
