I have a 5 day old Speckled Sussex chick that has had pasty butt for the past two days. I run her bottom under warm water and gently clean her vent, but she still continues to have this problem. even after we clean her bum, when she tries to poop, she chirps loudly but cannot succeed. What can I do to cure her of this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

I have a heat lamp close to the bottom of the brooder, but my broader is big enough where they can move to the back if they get too hot. I don't know the exact temperature. I have it like this so they can go where they want to depending on where they're comfortable with the temperature. The light is only on one side of the brooder.

You need a way to tell the temps in your brooder. Warm water soft cloth and clean those bottoms. Too high temps will cause pasty butt. Can you post pics of your set up?
